ACTIVITIES AND SERVICES
OF YOUR ASSOCIATION


REGULAR BUSINESS MEETINGS
Held the third Tuesday of January, March, May, October and December
at the Quality Inn, 6:30 pm.

BULLETIN SERVICE
Mailed to each member and contains information regarding projects on
display, current activities and developments relating to the construction
industry.

LABOUR RELATIONS

PLANS DISPLAY ROOM
Current projects out for tender are available for use of the trades in the
Plan Room. Tables are provided for the members convenience. (Note: see
page 4).

BID DEPOSITORY
Available for use.

MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY AND BUYERS GUIDE
Classified listings of services, products, and trade classifications mailed to
members, architects, engineers and purchasing agents. 

WAGE RATE INFORMATION
Wage rates, local, Ontario and Canada - all trades.

LIAISON WITH OTHER ASSOCIATIONS
The Canadian Construction Asociation; The Council of Ontario Construction
Associations; etc.

MEETING ROOM
Available for use by members and committees.

SOCIAL GATHERINGS
Golf Tournament, Safety Banquet, Xmas Party, etc.

Blueprint photocopy services available at Association Office.

OATHS AND AFFIDAVITS
Two of our Staff Members are authorized to administer Oaths
and Affidavits on documents connected with the business of
any member of the Association.

PLAN ROOM RULES

  1. The Plan Room is open Monday to Friday from 8 am. to 4:30 pm.
  2. Plans and specifications placed in the Plan Room are for the use
    of all members. Arrangements can be made to take plans out of
    the Plan Room overnight and at weekends. ( Subject to strict regulation)
  3. Members must register when using the Plan Room and state the name
    of the project viewed.
  4. Plans and specifications shall not be split and must be handled carefully
    to prevent mutilation.
  5. The use of telephone facilities is restricted to local calls only.
  6. Members of the Sarnia Construction Association only are allowed the use
    of the plan facilities. A member may authorize a non-member the use of
    plan room facilities by written instruction to the custodian of the plan room.

    SARNIA CONSTRUCTION ASSOCIATION
    PURPOSES AND AIM
a
To foster and advance the interest of those who are engaged in.or who are directly or indirectly connected with , or affected by, the erection of construction
of buildings in the said City of Sarnia and in the said County of Lambton.
(b) To represent the Members of the Corporation in any matters pertaining to the building and construction industry in the said City of Sarnia and in the said County
of Lambton, and when necessary, to negotiate on their behalf, and to enter into such
trade or other agreements affecting wages and all other matters as may appear to be
in the best interests of the construction industry.
(c) To promote suitable and desirable legislation affecting the industry in all its branches; and to provide liaison with governments for any contemplated legislation either by municipal, provincial or federal authorities insofar as the same may affect the construction industry.
(d) To achieve a closer relationship and a better understanding among the various branches
of the industry and to improve and standardize as far as possible the methods of submitting
and accepting tenders as between architect or engineer, general contractor, trade contractor
and owner and as between general contractor and subcontractor.
(e) To acquire, preserve and disseminate valuable information concerning the construction
industry.
(f) To bring about a greater uniformity in the custom and usages of those engaged in the
construction industry and the furnishing of materials therefor.
(g) To improve conditions affecting the construction industry.
(h) To settle differences among its members and to promote a closer co-
operation between the members of the various trades.
(i) To subscribe to, become a member of, and co-operate with, any other
Association , whether incorporated or not, whose objects are, altogether
or in part, similar to those of the Corporation.
(j) To raise money by subscription, and to grant any rights and privileges to
subscribers.
(k) To make such rules and regulations governing the activities of the members
as may appear in the best interest.
(l) To do all such things as may, directly or indirectly seem to be incidental,
conducive, convenient or proper for the accomplishment of the purposes
or the attainment of the objective of the Corporation or expedient for the
protection or benefit of its members.
